In Chicago (probably other places too) that chunk of land between the sidewalk and the street is called a parkway. A few years ago on a whim, I put a baby doll into a small bird feeder and blinged it out with some foam colored beads that looked like she was swimming in Trix cereal.

The kids from the corner preschool would linger during their walks to look at it. It grew from there. I try to change it up about twice a month.

In September 2023, I added a mailbox and art supplies for people to contribute drawings, which I laminate and hang on the fence.
